Rental Dumpsters: Dumping Responsibly

Posted on: 6 July 2018

Renting dumpsters requires that your dumping practices are professional and ethical. Your own company standards are one thing, but you must respect the rental company, your employees and site neighbors. Take these measures to dump responsibly.

1-Notify Site Neighbors

There are no legal reasons to notify area neighbors of your intention to bring rental dumpsters to your site. However, depending on their proximity, you might wish to alert them. Dumpster drop-offs can be noisy and if there will be limited visibility for your neighbors, knowing now is preferable.

While leaving work to talk may not be possible, by all means, utilize traditional letters for this purpose. Ensure you'll be reachable by email or phone. If they request traffic cones or other assistance to ensure dumpsters don't infringe on their property, do your best to see they're helped.

2-Complete Permit Applications

Ignoring possible permit documents is easy. There's no guarantee that municipal personnel shall even know about your project. However, to respect the city and avoid fines, asking rental company staff or town hall staff about relevant applications is smart. Observe deadlines and waiting periods. Refrain from accepting dumpsters until permits are delivered.

3-Recycle First

Dumpsters are often treated like a catch-all. Whatever isn't being used is tossed to the closest dumpster. However, some commercial and industrial materials are easily set aside not for dumping, but for recycling. Lumber, for example, can be stacked for amateur hobbyists, homeowners, or nearby recycling organizations. Collected stones can be ground down or kept for use in driveways or other home needs. By recycling, you'll make room for extra waste in dumpsters.

4-Follow Rules

When handed or sent rental company rules, you may not have read them thoroughly. If not, you'll be ignorant of any rules and so will your staff. Recycling could happen, but tires, batteries, chemical barrels and other problematic objects could still be making their way through the air into rental dumpsters. That could create hours of cleaning and other work for rental company employees.

Fluids could leak, jeopardizing any local traffic following rental vehicles as they return to their company. Be responsible; check objects against the company's list of permitted things. If they don't match, make alternate arrangements. Rental companies deal with this so frequently, they may be able to direct you to the appropriate handlers.

These actions align with responsible, ethical dumping practices. Discuss these measures with your chosen rental dumpster service.

Spending Less On Power Every Day

I was surprised by a lot of things after we moved into our new house, but one of the most striking problems we encountered was just how much our energy bill was. It was really difficult to cope with the thought of paying as much as we did on power, and so we started working hard to make the necessary changes as soon as possible. We began talking with our children about turning off lights and unplugging unused devices, and it was incredible to see how much better our power bill became. I wanted to create a website centering around power, because I know how important it is to save money and live a better life.
